Hello! It’s Ashley! Welcome to my blog post in our A Day in
Hongdae series!
Now that you’ve spent a whole day at Hongdae seeing cafes, shopping,
and art, you may be feeling a little hungry.
Hongdae is popular for its wide variety of delicious foods and nicely
decorated restaurants, with restaurants in sight no matter where you go.
However, this also means that when choosing where to go for dinner,
you may be a bit overwhelmed.

.

.

To help narrow down your options, I will be introducing three options of
restaurants that you may want to consider during your outing at Hongdae.
Hopefully, these options will be extensive enough to satisfy a wide
variety of tastes and help you get a taste of Korean culture through food!

.

1. Dwaeji Sanghoe (돼지상회)

.

.

.

For Korean barbecue lovers, you may want to check out Dwaeji
Sanghoe!
It’s a spot for all you can eat barbecue, to fill your stomach on a low
budget.
They serve 7 different kinds of pork, including pig skin, and also serve
fried chicken, soybean paste stew, korean cold noodles, rice, soda, and
vegetables for wraps (ssam).
Their full course, which is all these foods unlimited, is only 15,900won!
They also have a cafe for after your meal, and drinks are only 500won!

.

Dwaeji Sanghoe is very popular amongst locals, so you will likely see
Korean students, office workers, or families enjoying a meal here.
You should be aware that different courses provide different foods, but
you can easily ask for an English, Chinese, or Japanese menu to decide
which set will suit your tastes best!

2. Young Dabang (청년다방)

.

.

.

A huge attraction in Korea is their amazing street food.
One of the most popular Korean street foods you may have heard of is
Ddukbokki!
This next restaurant is a ddukbokki restaurant called Young Dabang
(Cheong-nyeon Dabang in Korean).
This restaurant is very popular amongst young locals for its delicious food
and cheap prices.
You will probably see this restaurant posted on many Korean social
media sites.

.

They are super popular for their Chadol (beef brisket) Ddukbokki and
their Butter Garlic Fries!
The ddukbokki is around 13,000~14,000won for 2~3 servings.
Their rice cakes are super chewy and the sauce is amazing!
This restaurant also has a cafe that sells a variety of cafe drinks for very
cheap!
Their americanos are only 1,500won (approximately $1.25 USD)!

.

.

Hours: 11:00AM – 9:30PM
Last order at 9:00PM
Address: 20, Yanghwa-ro 18an-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul

3. Witch’s Kitchen (마녀주방)

.

.

.

Witch’s Kitchen is a fun restaurant for any Halloween enthusiasts!
This is the perfect place if you’re missing Western food while travelling
in Korea!
Although pizza and pasta may not be your first thought for a meal when
travelling in Korea, I assure you, you will not regret a trip to Witch’s Kitchen.

.

I tried their Snake Rose Pasta, Snowflake Meat Tomato Pasta, and their
Kimchi Cheese Chili Rice, all of which were amazing.
Their pastas were around 11,000~14,000won.
The presentation of the food is very cool and unique, so it’s a perfect
photo taking opportunity to show off the interesting foods Korea has
to offer!
They also have a Halloween party on the 31st of every month if you enjoy
dressing up and being spooky!

.

.

Hours: 12PM – 10:30PM (Breaktime at 3PM-5PM)
Saturdays and Sundays no break
Address: 36-10 Wausan-ro 21-gil, Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul

.

.

.

.

.

I hope you found a restaurant that you like and can visit it in the near
future!
Each restaurant is amazing and highly recommended by me and all
the other interns here at Seoul Life.
Hopefully you like these places as much as we did!
